We now find ourselves at the mid-point of the
term. Our committee has recently been involved in numerous discussions
with various stakeholders and we feel that a decision needs to be made
regarding the Red Track carnivals planned for week ten. We are conscious of the
planning processes involved back at school in order to select and prepare teams for these carnivals, therefore, we wanted to make that decision now.
We said from the start that the carnivals would
only go ahead should restrictions lift. At this point in time restrictions have
not lifted. We are not in a position to predict what is going to happen in the
coming weeks. With this in mind, the decision has been made to cancel the 2020
Interschool Athletics carnivals (Red Track). As you can imagine, we are
extremely disappointed in this outcome, however, it seems to be the only choice
we have.
I encourage you to acknowledge your school team
in some way or another so that the athletes have at least been recognised for making
your squad. You may wish to organise a smaller carnival with your neighbouring
schools where keeping under the 500 and adhering to other COVID conditions are
easier to follow.
