Basketball is played in Season 3 with competitions for both boys and girls. Games are played at a number of venues including Townsville Basketball, Oonoonba State School, Annandale State School, Annandale Christian School and Townsville Grammar Junior School.

District trials
District trials are conducted to select 12 year and under teams for Townsville district. These district teams participate in the North Queensland trials where students vie for selection in the Northern region team. The regional team competes at the state championships. Students who turn 13 this year are not eligible to trial.
Students who are 10 years old must be of exceptional standard.
2023: this year's district trials will be conducted on Thursday 2 March (girls) and Friday 3 March (boys) . Two teams of boys and two teams of girls will be selected. Nomination forms are available from the PE teacher or sports contact at your school.
Only players nominated and endorsed by the school will be eligible for selection. Venue and time information is available from the school. All nomination forms must have the principal's signature on them or students will not be permitted to trial.
Players that attend schools which do not play basketball are still eligible for selection. This trial is for students who demonstrate a high level of skill in the sport of basketball. A high standard of behaviour is expected of nominees.
