Hockey is played in Season 1. The competition is played in a variety of formats, including:
- Senior boys
- Senior girls
- Senior mixed
- Six-a-side.
Games are played at the Townsville Hockey Association Complex in the Murray Sporting Precinct.

District trials
District trials are conducted to select 12 year and under teams for Townsville district. These district teams participate in the North Queensland trials where students vie for selection in the Northern region team. The regional team competes at the state championships.
Only players nominated and endorsed by the school will be eligible for selection. Venue and time information is available from the school. All nomination forms must have the principal's signature on them or students will not be permitted to trial.
Players that attend schools which do not play hockey are still eligible for selection. Please consider children who may not play hockey but possess a high level of sporting ability. A high standard of behaviour is expected of nominees.
All students must wear shin pads and have their own hockey stick. Mouthguards: All players must wear a mouthguard as per CARA requirements, a medical certificate is required for exemption to be permitted.
2023: this year's district trials will be conducted on Thursday 23 March. Nomination forms are available from the PE teacher or sports contact at your school.
