Rugby league is played in Season 1 at the Brothers Junior Rugby League Fields, Kirwan. There are 2 competitions:
- Junior (Year 4 or 5): All players must be born in 2011 (10 years) or 2010 (11years)
- Open (Year 6): All players must be born in 2010 (11 years) or 2009 (12 years)
Please note: No player born in 2008 can play in the open competition.

District trials
District trials are conducted to select 12 year and under teams for Townsville and Thuringowa. These district teams participate in the North Queensland trials where students vie for selection in the Northern region team. The regional team competes at the state championships.
Only players nominated and endorsed by the school will be eligible for selection. Venue and time information is available from the school. All nomination forms must have the principal's signature on them or students will not be permitted to trial.
Players that attend schools which do not play rugby league are still eligible for selection. This trial is for students who demonstrate a high level of skill in the sport of rugby league. A high standard of behaviour is expected of nominees.
Rugby league also select under 11 teams in both districts. These teams participate in the Vic Jensen Cup, in July.
