Rugby league is played in Season 1 at the Brothers Rugby League Fields, Kirwan. There are 2 competitions in 2023:
- Junior (Year 5): All players must be born in 2013 (10 years) or 2012 (11 years)
- Open (Year 6): All players must be born in 2012 (11 years) or 2011 (12 years)
Please note: No player born in 2010 can play in the open competition.

District trials
District trials are conducted to select 12 year and under teams for Townsville district. These district teams participate in the North Queensland trials where students vie for selection in the Northern region team. The regional team competes at the state championships. Rugby league also select under 11 district teams. These teams participate in the Vic Jensen Cup, in July. Trials for these teams are held separately.
Only players nominated and endorsed by the school will be eligible for selection. Venue and time information is available from the school. All nomination forms must have the principal's signature on them or students will not be permitted to trial.
Players that attend schools which do not play rugby league are still eligible for selection. This trial is for students who demonstrate a high level of skill in the sport of rugby league. A high standard of behaviour is expected of nominees.
11/12 years boys
2023 trial dates: Thuringowa - Tuesday 14 March, Townsville - Thursday 16 March
